Norditropin Simplexx is a liquid formulation of human growth hormone (somatropin) that has been introduced by Novo Nordisk. The liquid is presented in an injectable pen system. All current growth hormone products are freeze dried preparations that need to be reconstituted before injection. Norditropin Simplexx is presented in cartridges in three strengths: 5mg/1.5ml, 10mg/ 1.5ml and 15mg/1.5ml. Novo Nordisk says that the pen system, Nordipen, is the first in Europe to use the World Health Organisation's new mass units standard to dosing as opposed to international units. The company says the new mg standard more accurately reflects growth hormone potency and will become mandatory from July, 2001 (3IU = 1mg).
