Uptake of the meningitis C vaccine has been high, announced Ms Jane Hutt, the Welsh Assembly Health and Social Services Secretary, on January 19. "The uptake of the vaccine has been between 80 and 90 per cent, which is a good figure, and I am pleased that so many of those targeted have taken the opportunity to be vaccinated," she said. The immunisation of 15 to 17 year-olds is now largely complete and that of two-, three- and four-month-old babies is continuing. Vaccination has been extended to the under-twos and the next stage will be to target five to 14-year-olds at the start of the summer term, Ms Hutt said.
