SIR,—Could the Secretary and Registrar please advise members when they will be able to pay annual fees by credit card. This near-universal method of payment is more efficient and would probably encourage early payment, thus further improving the Society's finances

Miss ANN LEWIS (Secretary and Registrar, Royal Pharmaceutical Society) replies: There have indeed been requests for credit card payments of annual fees. This is a matter which we are considering along with the development of other on-line payment facilities.
However, our computer system is at a relatively early stage of implementation and we have this in mind for the future.
There are, of course, provisions on the dates of payment in the byelaws which we would have to meet in this new electronic environment, but I am sure that it would be possible to do so in the future.
