Postcode health care has been chosen by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society as the topic for a public debate at the end of this month. The debate will examine the way in which the rationing of services and treatments now means that the standard of service from the National Health Service now depends on where one lives.
Among the speakers is Mr Ron Zimmern, former director of public health for Cambridge health authority, which was at the centre of the much-publicised "Child B" case. Other speakers are Mr Peter Cardy, chief executive of the Multiple Sclerosis Association, whose members are among those most affected by postcode problems, and Ms Debbie Beeley, a nurse who has MS.
The debate will take place on February 28, at 6.30pm, at The Ark, close to the Society's London headquarters. Admission is free, but places must be booked by contacting Ms Alison Bennedict at the Society (tel 020 7735 9141 ext 277).
