Wyeth has revised the summary of product characteristics for Minocin MR 100mg capsules and the data sheet for Minocin 50mg and 100mg tablets. Under the administration section, if the product is to be continued for longer than six months, patients should be monitored at least three monthly thereafter for unusual pigmentation. It is now recommended that when taking the product "alcohol consumption should remain within the Government's recommended limits". In the updated versions it is recommended "that any indigestion remedies, vitamins or other supplements containing these salts are taken at least three hours before or after a dose". Additional paragraphs relating to hyperpigmentation have been added to both the special warnings and precautions for use and the undesirable effects sections.
