Atkinson On January 15, Harold Holland Atkinson, FRPharmS, of 114 Kylemore Drive, Heswall, Wirral, Merseyside L61 6XZ. Mr Atkinson registered in 1933.
Mrs SUE BLOOD (née Spencer) writes: It was with great sadness that I learnt of the death of Harold Atkinson. I have much to thank him for, having been employed by him as a newly qualified pharmacist in 1967. He was my group pharmacist at the former Sefton general hospital, Liverpool.
"HHA", as he was affectionately known, was gifted in his knowledge of chemistry. His formulations for dermatological preparations were legendary and he could always be relied upon to help a struggling recruit to rescue an emulsion from cracking. But he was also noted as an artist. Special occasions, such as a birthday milestone or a wedding, were marked by the gift of an oil painting from the "boss".
We corresponded every Christmastime after I left Sefton general in 1973, and his Christmas card was always something treasured as it was hand-painted.
My thoughts and sympathy are with his family at this sad time.
