From Mr P. J. Tidy, MRPharmS
SIR—I have to disagree very strongly with your editorial comment (PJ, February 26, p315) regarding boycotting the forthcoming International Pharmaceutical Federation Congress in Vienna. Let me take each point in turn.
First, fund raising can be done in many more ways than by having an international junket; perhaps a little new thinking might actually raise more money.
Second, the only thing a supine, "business as usual" approach demonstrates to Austrian extremists is that, when faced with a choice between a moral stand and a subsidised foreign holiday, pharmacy is for sale to the highest bidder. Please God we shall be spared returning dignitaries mouthing vapid platitudes about "Pharmacy for our time"!
