The Weldricks pharmacy group is to encourage people to cut up their cigarettes and drop them in a specially decorated bin in order to help them give up smoking on March 8 (National No-Smoking Day).
People who do so will be photographed as they get rid of their cigarettes and will be given a certificate of their pledge to give up the habit. The photographs will be sent to their subjects after they have been processed.
Last year, Weldricks, which has "smoking control centres" at two of its pharmacies, was a runner-up in the annual pharmacy award scheme which recognises pharmacies that provide the best help and support for people who want to quit smoking.
