Healthnet plans "online community"

A series of internet services for pharmacists, including discussion forums, locum lists, medical representative searches and news, have been launched by Healthnet.co.uk Ltd (www.healthnet.co.uk), an internet service provider.
They are intended to be the first of what the company calls an "online community" which will be extended to cover nurses, dentists, general medical practitioners and other health care professionals.
Speaking to The Journal at the Pharmacy 2000 exhibition in Birmingham on March 6, Mr Boon Yeng (corporate development executive, Healthnet) said that as well as the online services, the company would also be offering e-mail and web page design for pharmacists. It had registered a number of domain names, including chemist.net and UKpharmacist.com, for that purpose.
The company also had plans to host a "virtual pharmacy store" on the internet, Mr Yeng said. Customers shopping through this would be directed to local pharmacies registered with Healthnet in order to collect their purchases.
