An occasional feature to bring readers up to date with developments in PJOnline, the website version of The Pharmaceutical Journal, and to answer common questions about the service. PJOnline is available on the internet at www.pharmj.com
Finding new career opportunities has become easier following improvements to the PJOnline search facility. Recruitment advertising has been separated from other classified advertising so that, within seconds of accessing the website, the user can see a list of relevant opportunities for a career move.
The recruitment database includes all jobs advertised in both the current issue of the The Journal and the previous week's issue. The advertisements from the two issues are searched simultaneously, with the most recent advertisement displayed at the top of the list.
The database covers vacancies in community pharmacy, locum work, hospital practice and primary care pharmacy, as well as general and academic appointments. Also included are situations wanted advertisements and offers of research studentships and fellowships.
A list of all recruitment advertisements for a specific field of work can be obtained by selecting the appropriate category from the drop down menu and clicking the "submit search" button. The full text of any advertisement can be seen by clicking on the summary link.
Searches may also be limited to specific geographical areas. The area drop-down menu can be used either on its own - for example, to browse through all the jobs available overseas - or in conjunction with the list of categories - for example, to view all advertisements for community pharmacy locum positions in Scotland. There is also a search box to enter more specific search terms, such as the name of a specific company or town.
Those interested in hospital pharmacy vacancies can find further advertisements in The Hospital Pharmacist, which is also available via the PJOnline website. It can be accessed by clicking on the "Hospital" button on the PJOnline home page.
Separating off the PJ recruitment advertisements has also made it easier to search the advertisements that remain in the "classifieds" section. Clicking on "classifieds" now brings up details of businesses wanted and for sale, as well as other business and trade advertisements and announcements about postgraduate courses.
