From Mr M. Goldhill, MRPharmS
SIR,-I have just read the statement by Dr John Chisolm (PJ, March 4, p354) to the effect that the British Medical Association's general practitioners committee supports the proposition that community pharmacies should be permitted to supply emergency contraception.
He adds a rider suggesting that pharmacists would need "specific training in giving advice about contraception and sexual health".
In my view it would be more appropriate for Dr Chisholm to direct his remarks to the operators of petrol stations and convenience stores. Undoubtedly post-coital preparations will follow other potentially potent drugs to the general sales list.
