The latest edition of the British National Formulary, due to be published on March 23, reveals that the contents of the book are soon to be available over the internet. In addition to the formulary contents, the new website will include links to other websites and related information.
So far as the revised contents of the book are concerned, the new edition includes: new guidance on postmenopausal and corticosteroid-induced osteoporosis and the role of hormone replacement therapy and bisphosphonates; rhesus prophylaxis during pregnancy in rhesus-negative women; new advice on treating viral hepatitis; revised guidance on treating high blood pressure; strengthened warnings on the dangers of using corticosteroids for undiagnosed "red-eye"; and emergency contraception.
