Past-President at Downing Street lecture

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Immediate Past-President (Mr Hemant Patel) attended the Millennium Health Lecture delivered by Ms Susan Page (chief executive, Northumbria Healthcare trust) and a subsequent debate at 10 Downing Street on March 6.
Mr Patel told The Journal on March 7 that the lecture had been attended by around 120 people drawn from health care practice and policy-making backgrounds.
The key message of the meeting had been to "modernise and seek new money", Mr Patel said. Government Ministers who spoke seemed to be saying "tell us where you can modernise services and how much money you need to do so".
Another consistent theme had been the need for consistent application of high quality standards in a patient friendly way.
