FIP drops its journal as part of new communication strategy

The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) has ceased publication of the International Pharmacy Journal so as to concentrate its efforts on other communication tools.
The federation intends to set up a new communications structure making better use of modern communications technologies such as e-mail and the internet. It wants to improve the information available to members by providing resources of greater relevance to their daily practice as pharmacists or pharmaceutical scientists.
As part of an assessment of the existing communications structure, the federation carried out an IPJ readership survey which showed low levels of satisfaction with the publication. Following the journal's demise, the FIP intends to establish two newsletters - one aimed at its ordinary members (national pharmaceutical organisations) and one for its individual members.
To help implement its new communications strategy, the FIP is looking for an English-speaking pharmacist to fill the post of professional affairs manager, based at the FIP headquarters in the Hague, the Netherlands. On offer is a financial package worth up to E50,000 a year. Candidates must have good communication and computer skills, a broad knowledge of the profession and an understanding of international pharmacy issues.
Further information is available on the FIP website (www.fip.nl) or from FIP Head Office, PO Box 84200, 2508 AE The Hague, The Netherlands (tel +31 70 302 1970; fax +31 70 302 1999). Applications must be received by May 1.
