Local Pharmaceutical Committee Representatives' Conference

DTTOs offer possibility of remuneration rise

The 2000 conference of local pharmaceutical committee representatives was held at the Queen Elizabeth II conference centre in London on March 20

A possible opportunity to increase pharmacy incomes resulting from the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 was outlined by Dr Hopkin Maddock (Cornwall and Isles of Scilly).
Dr Maddock explained that magistrates could make drug offenders subject to drug treatment and testing orders (DTTOs), which could require them to undergo substitution therapy with supervised administration and testing to ensure that they were not taking any non-prescribed drugs.
"See if you can play a role and make sure that you know what you are talking about," Dr Maddock told the meeting. "There is potential for increased remuneration - in Cornwall it amounts to about £120 per month."
