Community group election attracts only five candidates

There is to be no election to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Community Pharmacists Group Committee this year because only five nominations have been received for the seven elected places on the group committee.
The five include only four of the seven retiring committee members - Mr Jeremy Clitherow, Mr Michael Levitan, Mr Stanley Wheatley and Mr Gerald Zeidman (the group's chairman). They will be joined on the new committee by Mrs Vanessa Taylor, who was seeking election for the first time.
The three current committee members who chose not to seek election are Mr Noel Baumber, Mr Wayne Cutts and Mr Richard Flynn.
The five nominated members will serve on the committee for the three years from June. The two remaining vacant places will be filled by co-option at the new committee's first meeting, which will be held in September.
The last committee election, in 1997, also attracted only five nominations.
