The launch of an award scheme for Vantage members was announced at the AAH/Vantage convention by AAH Pharmaceuticals's managing director, Mr Steve Dunn. Awards totalling £10,000 would be made over the coming year.
Mr Dunn said that the Vantage silver pharmacy awards celebrated 25 years of Vantage. Awards worth £1,000 would be presented in each of five categories and an overall winner would receive a further £5,000. The five award categories were information technology, professional services, health care, marketing and pharmacy chain (for members with more than one pharmacy). The £1,000 awards would be presented at intervals of two month and the overall winner would be announced in March, 2001.
Entries for each category would be judged by a panel of experts in that sector, including representatives of major suppliers and AAH Pharmaceuticals.
An entry form for the first award, for IT, would appear in the May issue of Vantage News, published on April 20. Entries would be required to give details of how the applicant had implemented an IT strategy and the improvements it had made. Evidence such as statistics and sales figures would be required to back up the nomination.
