Analgesics

Effect of restrictions

From Dr I. L. Natoff, FRPharmS

SIR,-Many months have passed since the imposition of restrictions on the quantity of paracetamol and aspirin which may be sold. This has resulted in an increase in the unit cost of these medicines by virtue of new packaging (we are told), and inconvenience to the majority of the sensible public, who have been raised on free acccess to them. The real question is, however, has it resulted in a reduction in the numbers admitted to hospital suffering from the effects of overdose of these antipyretic-analgesics?
Does anyone have access to any figures which might show if the objective is being achieved?
