Pharmacists are reminded that on May 1, 1998, flunitrazepam (Rohypnol) was rescheduled from Schedule 4 to Schedule 3 under the Misuse of Drugs Regulation 1985. Prescriptions written for flunitrazepam must comply with both prescription and handwriting requirements and stock of the product is subject to safe custody requirements. In addition, any pharmacist who imports or exports flunitrazepam must obtain a licence from the Home Office.
