From Mr P. A. Roberts, MRPharmS
SIR,-It is no surprise to me to read of our Society's proposal to use of the obvious surplus of cash to purchase extra premises for the use of our President (PJ, February 5, p208). It has been said that this will result in savings on security staff at Lambeth but the question must be asked as to what the annual management charges will be in the new luxury flat to be purchased.
The Society must surely be awash with money when my annual retention fee cheque posted off on January 12 takes until February 28 to be cleared through my account. Perhaps if cheques were efficiently dealt with then there might be some spare cash to issue us, the members, with a free identity card, instead of the apology of the receipt printed with a machine in need of a new ink-ribbon.
