From Mr M. Williams, MRPharmS
SIR,-On behalf of Len Dalton and his new branch committee, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the officers of the Society who helped to facilitate the setting up of a new branch in Solihull (PJ, March 25, p465).
Roger Odd (head of professional and scientific support at the Society) and his staff had put in a great deal of hard work to ensure that the inaugural meeting of the new branch was a success. I would like to thank Mrs Linda Stone (Council member) for chairing the meeting, and Mark Koziol (Council member) and Lady Constance Perris (secretary, West Midlands region) for lending their support to the evening. I am also grateful for the messages of support and encouragement I have received from other branches in the West Midlands region.
However, the greatest measure of thanks must go to the grassroots pharmacists of Solihull who turned up to the meeting. The turnout was very encouraging for the future of the branch, and I know that the committee will endeavour to ensure that the programme of events for the coming year will live up to the expectations of all. The committee has already agreed that speakers should be of the highest quality, on topics of relevance to pharmacy in the 21st century, in venues and at times that make meetings accessible to all in and around the Solihull area.
