Smithkline Beecham Pharmaceuticals has launched Bactroban (mupirocin 20mg/g) cream in 15 g tubes (net price, £4.71). The new formulation is licensed for topical treatment of secondarily infected traumatic lesions such as small lacerations, sutured wounds or abrasions (up to 10cm in length or 100cm2 in area), caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.
