Waymade Healthcare has recalled One Touch blood glucose test strips, batches 925722A and 925724A. This is because the company has incorrectly repackaged imported One Touch plasma calibrated blood glucose test strips as "Whole Blood calibrated" test strips. The company says that the plasma calibrated strips can give a 12 per cent higher blood glucose result than whole blood strips. The Department of Health says that this may result in diabetics increasing their dose of medication with the potential for clinical hypoglycaemia. All stocks of the above must be checked and affected blood glucose strips returned to the supplier.
