Tazocin SPC changes

Wyeth has revised several sections of the summary of product characteristics for Tazocin (piperacillin/tazobactam). Additions have been made to the undesirable effects section. The amended section now reads: "Rarely, interstitial nephritis and/or renal failure may occur. Hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice have been reported rarely with some penicillins and ß-lactamase inhibitors, including piperacillin/tazobactam. In common with other ß-lactam antibiotics, haemolytic anaemia has been reported rarely with piperacillin and piperacillin/tazobactam." The special precautions for storage section has been updated to comply with European guidance on maximum shelf life after reconstitution and now states: "If not used immediately, in use storage times and conditions prior to administration are the responsibility of the user." /p>
