The discount clawback for pharmacy contractors in Scotland has been increased from an average 7.093 per cent to 8.9 per cent from April 1. In addition, a backdated increase from 7.093 per cent to 8.55 per cent is to be imposed on National Health Service turnover from April 1, 1999 to March 31, 2000. The discounts only apply to proprietary medicines.
The increases were announced by the Scottish Pharmaceutical General Council in a letter to contractors on May 3.
The backdated increase is to be recovered from contractors in 18 monthly instalments from July, 2000 to December, 2001, according to a turnover-related scale that remains to be published. Also to be published is the new discount clawback scale to be implemented from April 1.
