Dothiepin restrictions?

From Mr J. M. McLusky, MRPharmS

SIR,-The Office of National Statistics gave figures of 562 cases of death associated with paracetamol and 235 associated with dothiepin in 1997 (PJ, April 8, p530).
Restrictions on the pack sizes of paracetamol were introduced but the outcome on the death rate has not yet been assessed.
Having recently and not infrequently dispensed prescriptions for both 6 x 28 dothiepin 25mg and 75mg, should there be restrictions on the quantity prescribed?
