The MSF union has reached a £12m settlement with the Government on behalf of 351 speech and language therapists employed by the National Health Service.
The settlement concludes an equal pay claim that was launched in 1986 on behalf of the therapists, the majority of whom were women. Their work was compared with that of male dominated NHS professions such as clinical psychologists and pharmacists.
An industrial tribunal and, subsequently, the European Court of Justice upheld the claim.
