Mr John Etheridge, MRPharmS, of Gloucester, has been awarded the degree of master of arts in history by the Open university.
Mrs Carol Candlish, MRPharmS, Dr Mike Sackville, MRPharmS, and Dr Alan Worsley, MRPharmS, have been appointed senior lecturers at the institute of pharmacy and chemistry, University of Sunderland. Mrs Candlish was formerly senior pharmacist on the Prodigy authoring team at the Sowerby centre for health informatics, University of Newcastle. Dr Sackville was store manager with Boots the Chemists Ltd at Gateshead. Dr Worsley was senior pharmacist in prescribing support at the Northern and Yorkshire regional drug information unit. The University of Sunderland has also appointed Mr Joe Asghar, MRPharmS, (consultant in public health, Northumberland health authority) as part-time senior lecturer and Dr Sheila Woolfrey, MRPharmS, (principal pharmacist in clinical services, Wansbeck general hospital) as honorary lecturer.
Mr Bill Darling, FRPharmS, has been appointed to the ministerial advisory board of the new National Health Service Purchasing and Supply Agency. The board's role is to advise the Secretary of State for Health on the long-term, strategic direction of the agency.
