Bayer Plc's consumer care division is currently testing a new merchandising display stand for its Canesten dermatological products in an independent community pharmacy chain at Portsmouth.
If the trial, at Tremletts Chemists Ltd, is successful, the display stand will be made available nationally. The stand is based on one developed for Canesten gynaecological products (PJ, February 26, p325) and contains spaces for powder and atomiser packs, as well as creams.
Speaking to The Journal on May 12, Miss Libby Crane (Canesten product manager, Bayer) said that an illustrated diagnostic card would be provided for pharmacy staff to help them in identifying customers' skin problems. Customers were increasingly willing to self-treat skin problems, but were often mistreating them, she said.
