SIR,-Following the letter headed "Awash with cash" (PJ, April 8, p542), can I add my own dismay at the length of time the Society takes to acknowledge receipt of my annual retention fee.
I posted my cheque on January 18. It was cleared in my account on March 6 and I am still awaiting the receipt.
I see no reason why this annual event takes such a long time to be executed. The demand delivered by the Society arrives very promptly each new year.
As members we are expected to respond to the call to vote for our elected Council each year, and year by year, we read of the dismal response to the election but this year I shall be thinking hard about this, when I am treated so badly by the Society. Is this the way a professional body works?
