Schering Health Care has introduced a Betaferon starter pack as a support item to help patients with multiple sclerosis self-administer Betaferon injections. The pack includes: a video, audio cassette and training manual, which give instructions and advice on how, where and when to administer Betaferon; a diary to help patients keep a personal record of their treatment; a dummy product; travel kit and ice pack; sharps container; vial opening device; witch hazel ointment; and a card to show at passport control. The company says that it has also launched prefilled diluent syringes to make self-administration faster and easier. These are designed for new patients and those having difficulty with tasks requiring manual dexterity. Previous syringes are still available, says the company.
