Johnson & Johnson MSD has launched Daktarin Gold (ketoconazole) cream for the treatment of tinea pedis, candidal intertrigo (infected sweat rash) and tinea cruris (retail price, 15g £4.99). The company says that for treating mild athlete's foot the pharmacy only product should be rubbed gently between the toes and surrounding area twice daily, for one week. For more severe or extensive infection (eg, also affecting the soles or sides of the feet) treatment should be continued for at least two to three days after all symptoms have disappeared to prevent relapse. For tinea cruris and candidal intertrigo, the cream should be rubbed into the affected area once or twice daily for at least two to three days after symptoms have cleared.
