The Scottish Health Minister (Ms Susan Deacon) officially opened the refurbished G. W. Allan Ltd pharmacy at Portobello High Street, Edinburgh, on May 16.
Mr James Allan, who runs the business with his father, Mr George Allan told The Journal on May 23 that this was the Minister's first official visit to a community pharmacy. He said that she had been impressed by the bright layout of the pharmacy and that she had especially liked the quiet area for discussions with patients.
Mr Allan added that he had discussed with the Minister the proposed price ceilings that were to be introduced for generic medicines.
He had told her that it would be pharmacists who would have to take on the problem of telling patients and doctors that medicines they wanted were no longer available. She had said that these worries would have to be discussed with her officials.
