Moss Pharmacy, the retail division of Alliance Unichem Plc, has established a training school for pharmacists employed by other European divisions of its parent company.
During the 11-week course, the pharmacists spend time working in individual departments at Moss as well as receiving formal training and English language tuition. They have to complete two projects related to the refurbishment and acquisition of a pharmacy.
Eight pharmacists from Italy, France, Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic attended the first course.
Mr Malcolm Bayly (development director, Moss) said that the aim of the course was to convey best practice in retail pharmacy to employees of sister companies. This was so that they would be "well prepared as and when deregulation happens in their respective countries".
