The Public Health Laboratory Service has added an antibiotic guidance template for primary care to its website (www.phls.co.uk).
The PHLS says that the template, which has been designed to be down-loaded, gives advice on the most common infections seen in general practice and will help clinicians, prescribing advisors in primary care and microbiologists to develop antibiotic guidance for their primary care group. The advice and antibiotics can be changed to suit local circumstances, for example, to reflect laboratory resistance data, the PHLS says.
