Pharmacists and prescribers have been alerted to the possibility of mis-prescribing or incorrect dispensing of Humalog products (Current Problems in Pharmacovigilance 2000;26:4).
Since April, 1999, seven patients have been prescribed or have received either Humalog or Humalog Mix25 in error, says the Committee on Safety of Medicines. Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Humalog, is currently modifying the packaging of these products to help prevent further errors, says the CSM.
