Medicines Commission appointment

Professor Roger Walker, MRPharmS (director of pharmaceutical public health, Gwent health authority, and professor of pharmacy practice, Cardiff university) has been appointed to the Medicines Commission. He joins Miss Ann Lewis (Secretary and Registrar, Royal Pharmaceutical Society) as a pharmacist member of the commission.
The broad function of the Medicines Commission is to advise the health and agriculture Ministers on matters related to the Medicines Act 1968 and to medicines generally. It also advises on the safety, quality and efficacy of medicines when manufacturers appeal against the advice of the Committee on Safety of Medicines, the Advisory Board on the Registration of Homoeopathic Products or the Veterinary Products Committee.
