Action call for NHS plan

Pharmacists, optometrists and dentists (PODs) are being urged by a group of local pharmaceutical committee secretaries in London to get together to make submissions to the national plan for the National Health Service .
The Thames Area PODs group wants LPCs to contact their counterparts on local dental and optometry committees. Local action groups should be formed to agree plans, the group says. It wants to see a co-ordinated media awareness campaign during June and July to highlight the problem of marginalisation of the three professions within the NHS. Action teams should also consider writing directly to the members of the NHS modernisation action teams and organising a lobby of Parliament. The action call is being backed by London LPC chairmen, including Mr Andrew McCoig, Mr Graham Phillips amd Mr Hemant Patel.
