Pharmacy practice Applications are invited for a joint award for evidence-based pharmacy practice in the National Health Service sponsored by the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists, the National Pharmaceutical Association and Merck Sharp & Dohme Ltd. The award is open to pharmacists from any branch of the profession, but the proposed work must reflect a joint project between community and hospital pharmacy. The successful applicant will be awarded a grant of £5,000 to fund the proposal. The closing date for applications is September 18. The winner will be announced at a symposium on November 3 which will include a presentation from the winners of the 1999 award. Visions of science Novartis UK Ltd is sponsoring a photography competition entitled Novartis Visions of Science that will run from May 31 until July 31. Entries will be judged on how well they illustrate any aspect of science and the positive impact it can have on people's lives. Photographs taken within the past two years can be entered.
