From Mr M. A. Clark, MRPharmS
SIR,-Is the low turnout for Council elections (PJ, May 20, p761) simply a reflection of the virtual disenfranchisement of employee community pharmacists?
This group makes up the majority of active pharmacists, but there is no effective mechanism to allow an employee pharmacist to stand for election; I deliberately exclude directors and superintendent pharmacists from this group.
I venture to suggest that if the many excellent employee pharmacists currently managing a community pharmacy were able to stand then the voting percentage would improve dramatically, and subsequently membership of Council would more accurately reflect how pharmacy is actually practised.
