Electronic prescribing pilot site wanted

The Scottish project to link prescribers, pharmacies and the Scottish Common Services Agency's prescription pricing division electronically is now looking for a pilot site to test the system.
In a Scottish Parliamentary written reply, the Scottish Health Minister (Ms Susan Deacon) said on June 5: "A major project on the electronic transmission of prescriptions is being taken forward as part of the Scottish Care Information (SCI) programme which was announced on 21 April. The next key step will be to establish a proving site, which will test out the connections required between general practice, community pharmacy and the Common Services Agency."
She had been asked by Dr Richard Simpson (Lab, Ochil) what stage had been reached in the development of electronic prescribing.
