ML Laboratories Plc has launched Adept (icodextrin 4 per cent in electrolytes) solution for the prevention of surgical adhesions in gynaecological and lower bowel surgery (price, 1 litre £31.50). The company says that the solution is poured into the abdomen, or run in via a laparoscope during keyhole surgery, and left in situ after surgery. Fluid stays in the lower abdomen allowing the organs to float apart, says the company.
