Christine Glover re-elected President

In its first election of Officers under a new, more open procedure, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Council has re-elected Mrs Christine Glover as President and Mr Marshall Davies as Vice-President. Mr David Allen has been elected Treasurer in succession to Dr Gordon Appelbe.
Both Mrs Glover and Mr Davies were re-elected unopposed. In the election of the Treasurer, Mr Allen and Dr Appelbe were both candidates. Mr Allen received 14 votes and Dr Appelbe nine.
The new election mechanism (PJ, May 27, p796) allowed candidates for election either to be nominated by other members of Council or to be self-nominated. Nominations for the Presidency had to be submitted in advance of the meeting, but nominations for the posts of Vice-President and Treasurer were not taken until after the election of the President.
A more detailed account of the election will appear in next week's Council report
