West Midlands Co-op adds six more

West Midlands Co-operative Society Ltd has continued its rapid expansion. It added two branches to its pharmacy chain in May and a further four in June, bringing the total in the group to 28. Up to 12 new jobs are to be created as a result.
The company bought pharmacies at St John's health centre, Walsall, and Lichfield Road, Walsall Wood, from S&M (Wholesalers) Ltd last month. This was followed by the acquisition of three more pharmacies in Walsall on June 5. They are at Chestnut Road, Harden, Broadstone Avenue, Leamore, and White Street, Caldmore. A pharmacy at Lombard Street, Stourport, has also been taken over. This will be transferred into the Stourport Co-op food store in July. The company is taking on new staff to cope with extended opening hours and Sunday opening at some of its acquisitions. In addition, four drivers have been recruited to help with prescription deliveries.
