The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's disease (NACC) is launching a campaign to encourage early diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The campaign will form part of the NACC's action week between June 24-July 2. Its aim is to increase awareness and early recognition of IBD among the public and medical professionals. The NACC says that anyone with "symptoms of persistent, non-infectious, bloody, painful diarrhoea or unexplained weight loss should wait no longer than two weeks before seeing their general practitioner". Further information about the action week can be obtained from the NACC (tel 01727 844296 or www.nacc.org.uk).
