From Mr J. A. Breslaw, MRPharmS
SIR,-I would like to enlarge on the letter from Mr Cooke (PJ, June 17, p915). Mental illness is a condition that affects the chemistry of the brain. It affects thinking, emotions and behaviour. It is a brain disorder, an illness.
In the United States mental illness organisations with the help of Congress have influenced the health insurance companies to provide cover for mental illness. One day it will happen in this country. After all, heart disease, cancer and diabetes are long term illnesses and covered. Why not mental illness?
