SIR, - I recently received a prescription for glycerin of ichthammol (for eczema of the ear), and I wanted to check the formula and possible dilution for the doctor. This product was freely available from my wholesalers, so I was very surprised to find no mention of it in any recent Martindales.
I rang the editor and he told me the emphasis is to move away from formulae and more to clinical pharmacy. I am sure the majority of pharmacists would prefer to be able still to see formulae for some of the older products still in use!
