The Government has responded to complaints that many of its proposed maximum reimbursement prices for generic medicines are too low for manufacturers to continue making them.
A revised list of maximum prices for generics was posted on the Department of Health website at www.doh.gov.uk/gendcon/ on June 19.
The new prices were open for consultation until June 26.
Of the original 479 items, 150 have had their proposed maximum prices increased. No reductions have been proposed, but 32 new items or pack sizes have been added to the list and 12 have been removed.
The changes mean that no products have maximum prices below the 20p to 25p estimated packaging cost for a patient pack.
