Council to defend pharmacy rota

Wellington town council in Somerset is to launch a campaign to keep a Sunday and bank holiday pharmacy service running in the town.
The council intends to raise a petition to try to persuade Somerset health authority to keep the rota service going in the town and not to withdraw it this month.
A local councillor (Mr Christopher Tolchard) commented: "It is the elderly and infirm who require medication and they will find it most difficult if this goes through."
A health authority spokesman said that pharmacies in the town could not maintain the service after one decided that it could no longer take part in the rota
