WELSH AGM

THE 24th annual general meeting of the Welsh Executive for members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society resident in Wales will be held at Techniquest, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff on Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at 7.30pm. A buffet will be served from 7pm. The chairman will present the annual report and the names of those persons who will fill the four vacancies occurring in the Welsh Executive for the 2000-03 term will be formally announced.
The 10th Penn Lecture will commence immediately after the AGM, at 8pm. The topic is &Gene therapy: who will be the diagnosticians and prescribers of the future?& Professor Ian Hart (Richard Dimbleby professor of cancer research, Guy's, King's and St Thomas's medical school, King's College London, and member of the Gene Therapy Advisory Committee) and Ms Susan Bull (deputy director, Nuffield Council on Bioethics) will address the topic from both the scientific and ethical perspectives.

VETERINARY PHARMACISTS GROUP ELECTION RESULT

THE election of five members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Veterinary Pharmacists Group to serve on the group committee has now been completed.
The result was as follows: Voting papers sent out, 1,300; voting papers returned, 239; papers void due to improper completion, 6.
Votes were cast as follows: Braithwaite, Melanie,180; Cairns, Andrew,169; Cockbill, Sarah,122; Davidson, Douglas, 136; Jobson, Philip,137; Jones, Roderick,132; Spencer, Brian, 153.
Mrs Braithwaite, Mr Cairns, Mr Davidson, Mr Jobson and Mr Spencer have therefore been elected to the Veterinary Pharmacists Group Committee for a period of three years.
